THE RETREAT
Burr-Wood Gardens is situated on a 2.5 acre terraced block, an unexpected oasis set amongst the native bush. From the site you'll see expansive views from Waihi Beach to White Island. Set up high the landscape is ever changing, with stunning sunrises and during winter often mysterious and beautifully shrouded in cloud, we often look over the clouds and out to sea. We have an abundant array of native birds visit daily such as wood pigeons, tui, kingfisher and fantails.
Amenities
The Retreat has a combined living, kitchen and dining and a seperate bedroom with ensuite bathroom with toilet, large tiled shower and basin vanity. The en suite bathroom is equipped with plenty of toiletries for your use, including soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. In short, everything you’d expect from top boutique hotels but with the added bonus of being so close to nature. The King size bed is super comfortable with luxury linen, woollen blankets and a dreamy duvet.There is a heater provided in winter and a permanent panel wall heater in both the bedroom and the ensuite for your added comfort.
The kitchen features a fridge freezer, full oven with range hood and ceramic cooktop, a microwave, toaster, jug and cast iron tea pot as well as a Nespresso Coffee Machine and stunning Annabel Langbein cookware and crockery, stainless steel pots, pans, chef quality knives and all you would expect - no expense has been spared!
What's provided?
All bedding, towels (including Spa towels as well as bath towels), and toiletries (hand soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper) are provided.
Luxury Bath Robes are provided.
Cleaning products such as dishwashing liquid and paper towels are provided.
The kitchen features a few complimentary items - Tea, Compostable Nesspresso Coffee Pods (5 varieties), Hot Chocolate, Salt, Pepper and oil.
You will find fresh milk in the fridge on your arrival as well as a snack station and beer or cider.
You are welcome to harvest any fresh organic herbs (basil, parsley, thyme, coriander, rosemary and mint) from the potager.
You will need to bring:

Gumboots or walking shoes that you can explore the garden or surrounding bush in.

The view was mesmerising and captivated the soul. The sounds of silence were broken only by birdsong and insects enjoying the abundant flora that the spectacular gardens provided. The accommodation was remarkably understated chic, quite boujee in fact. A most comfortable bed, awesome shower and a kitchen that provided all the necessaries for the perfect break including nice touches such as a picnic blanket if you wanted to enjoy the gardens by day and a torch should you wish to explore by night.

Paula is a wonderful host being so considerate and attentive. We had a great time at the retreat and enjoyed the privacy and amenity very well. This is a place that you can fully relax and recharge, with close proximity to Waihi and the supermarkets in town. Would recommend to anyone looking for countryside serenity and modern interior designs at the same time.
